Why We Are a Closed Cattery ❤️
We are often asked if it is possible to visit our cattery, meet our cats, and see where our kittens grow up. And honestly, we completely understand why. Choosing a kitten is a big decision, and everyone wants to know where their future family member comes from.
When we first started breeding, we allowed visits because we understood this wish. However, with time, we realised that we needed to set some boundaries. Our cats live inside our home with us and our children. This is not a separate cattery that we can open to visitors, but our family home, where our cats live their everyday lives, sleep, play, and feel safe. Unfortunately, some people started treating visits more like a trip to a little zoo, forgetting that behind the cattery name there is a private home and a family who deserves privacy, too.
But privacy is only one part of our decision. The health of our cats is just as important, if not more so. ❤️
When visiting different catteries, it is possible to carry viruses or other infectious agents on your hands, clothes, or shoes without even realising it. You do not need to touch a sick cat for there to be a risk. And in a cattery, there may be pregnant queens, newborn kittens, or tiny babies whose immune systems are still developing. For them, some infections can have very serious consequences. This is also why we kindly ask people not to visit several catteries on the same day. We know everyone wants to find the perfect kitten, but prevention is always better than dealing with a serious illness later.
We cannot protect our cats from every possible risk, but we can avoid unnecessary ones. For us, responsible breeding is not just about choosing healthy parents, good nutrition, and veterinary care. It is also about the small decisions we make every day to keep our cats safe.
Does this mean we have something to hide? Absolutely not. 😊 We love sharing our cats and their lives with you. We regularly post photos and videos on our social media, showing their personalities, their daily routines, their funny moments, and the way they live with us. We are also happy to arrange video calls with prospective kitten owners, so we can talk, answer questions, and introduce you to our cats from the comfort of our home.
We believe that trust is built through honest communication, the way we care for our animals, and the relationship we build with future kitten families. An in-person visit is not the only way to get to know a breeder or understand how their cats live.
At the end of the day, our cats are not just breeding cats. They are our family. Our home is their safe place, and we want to keep it that way for them and for our children.
We know that a closed cattery may not be everyone’s preference, and we respect that. But this is the decision that feels right for our family and, most importantly, for our cats.
Thank you to everyone who understands and respects our choice. We are always happy to share our little world with you — just in a way that keeps it safe. ❤️🐾
A closed cattery, but always an open heart.
